We Care Insurance for Clients

Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people 65 and older, or those with disabilities. You can enroll in Medicare during a seven-month window around your 65th birthday. The window starts three months before you turn 65 and ends three months after. Medicare has different parts that cover different types of health care services. You should learn about the different parts of Medicare to choose the best option for your situation.

Medicare Basics

Original Medicare

Original Medicare Original Medicare includes Part A and Part B coverage. Part A covers inpatient care in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, home health, and hospice. Part B covers doctor visits, ambulance rides, home health, preventive care, medical equipment, and some tests and drugs.

Medicare Part D

Medicare Part D Medicare Part D is a plan that covers prescription drugs. You can buy it as a separate plan or as part of a Medicare Advantage plan (MAPD). Part D plans can help you save money on your medications. They have a list of drugs that they cover, called a formulary. The drugs are grouped into tiers, and the lower the tier, the lower the cost.

Part D plans have to cover at least two drugs from each category. But they have to cover all drugs in these special categories:
